3.3. Opening the Configuration Applications
Windows 7 only
After attaching your adapter to an available COM port on your computer, make sure that the software files all have a
shortcut located on your desktop. The software was originally designed for Windows XP so to make it run
successfully; you will need to follow these steps:
- Make sure all of the files are in a folder on the desktop before proceeding.
- Right-click the “Setup.exe” application.
- Click “Properties”.
- Click “Compatibility” tab.
- Checked “Run this program in compatibility mode for:” checkbox and leave the default “Windows XP
(Service Pack 3)” as default.
- Run the “Setup.exe”.
- Proceed and say “continue” or “ignore”. If you see error messages during installation.
- Run the utility from the shortcut created on the desktop after the installation has finished.
After the above steps have been completed, the software should run in Windows 7 just like would in Windows XP.
When using a Windows XP computer, simply start the application by double clicking the new application icon
located on your desktop or go to “Start/All Programs/Brain Boxes Software/RS-232 Bluetooth Adapter
Configuration Tools/RS-232 Bluetooth Adapter Configuration Utility”, as shown below. The Configuration Wizard is
also opened in the same manner.
3.4. Using the Configuration Wizard
The Configuration Wizard is a tool that will guide you through all the necessary configuration options for configuring
your Adapter for the first time. This section will give a brief overview of the Configuration Options on offer. Please
see section 3.5. To move to the next page of the Configuration Wizard, click ‘Next’. At any time, to re-configure
certain options, click the ‘Back’ button to return to the previous page.
